Golf hopes dashed in mid-December snow
Holland was blitzed with some heavy snowfall in a matter of hours in mid-December. Much of England and Scotland too. A white Christmas is something that most of us dream of. Yet when six inches of snow falls a couple of weeks before the festivities begin, then the real golf fanatic is naturally bitterly disappointed. Gone is that very last chance of reducing the handicap before the final curtain comes down on another golf season. Gone is the good excuse to escape to the golf club and so avoid the pre-Christmas stress that’s building-up everywhere. Gone is the opportunity of burning-off a few extra calories on the golf course in advance of the annual binge on turkey, Christmas pudding, chocolate and all the gooey goodies on offer during the festive period. Not forgetting the millions of mince pies traditionally munched by Brits around the world each Christmas.
But never fear, true golf fanatic. In a week’s time, we’ll be ringing in 2018. Yes, a whole New Year full of 365 wonderful days of new golfing opportunities.
Until then, have a very Merry Christmas – wherever you are, with or without snow! And Happy Golfing!
