Reflecting upon a sunny 2016 KLM Open
What a difference a year makes! With nothing but rain, rain and more rain forecast for the next four days, it’s an ideal moment to reflect on the sunny September of 2016 and hear an inspiring tale from one of the Dutch Open volunteers.
This time last year, the KLM Open was enjoying a sun-drenched week at The Dutch. It was a great tournament for the new host club in Spijk with a dream final scenario: the home-favourite, Joost Luiten crowned as Dutch Open Champion for the second time in his career. Among those living the dream at the exclusive new venue was a very enthusiastic volunteer, Gerry van der Steldt, one of several hundred from around the country. Wendy Hoad from Golfing Inspirations spoke with the happy non-golfer about her experience at the close of play. We’re delighted to say that it looks as if the tournament has inspired a new golfer.
