A wealth of talent gathers in North Carolina
A dream came true for the 30-year old American Wyndham Clark last year when he won the US Open with a 10-under par score to secure his first Major. It was a narrow one-shot victory for Clark over Northern Ireland’s Rory McIlroy. And now the American from Denver is sharpening his golf experience again to defend his title at the Pinehurst Resort & Country Club in Pinehurst, North Carolina, America (13-16 June) against a wealth of talented players.
The third Major of the season, the 124th US Open will see top players from around the world competing in North Carolina. Among the list being some of the accomplished amateurs in the world.
Indeed, the World Number One ranked professional golfer, Scottie Scheffler (USA) has his eyes firmly focussed on winning the US Open. The number two player in the world, Xander Schauffele, who won the US PGA Championship a few weeks ago, is in the hunt too along with Rory McIlroy and Wyndham Clark who are ranked as number three and four in the world ranking.
Add to this list of talent the likes of Spain’s Jon Rahm, who won the US Open in 2021, and America’s Dustin Johnson and Jordan Spieth who won in 2016 and 2015 respectively, and do not forget the runner-up in the recent US PGA Championship, Bryson DeChambeau, who also won the US Open in 2020, and England’s Matt Fitzpatrick (2022 winner), then the tournament really begins to tickle the tastebuds.
The Pinehurst Resort & Country Club has a par of 70 and stretches out over more than 7550 yards of glorious fairways. The 124th US Open will be a joy to watch and fill you with even greater inspiration to get out on the golf course and show your own oozing talent!
