Englishman surprises the Americans at East Lake
Tommy Fleetwood is a name well-known in the golf world for his appearances in the legendary Ryder Cup as well as the 30 top-5 finishes and six runner-up spots around the world. However, at the weekend the 34-year old Englishman from Southport made his life-time dream come true when he won the Tour Championship at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, Georgia, USA (21-24 August). For Fleetwood it was amazingly his first victory in 164 events on the PGA Tour and he surpassed impressive players such as the World Number One, Scottie Scheffler.
As the formidable winner of the FedEx Cup 2025, Tommy Fleetwood had won eight times worldwide around the world before Sunday. At East Lake GC he played divine golf with rounds of 64, 63, 67 and 68 for a tally of 262 (18-under par) to win the Tour Championship with a 3-shot lead over Americans Russell Henley and Patrick Cantlay.
“Close but no cigar”

Defending champion and World Number One Scottie Scheffler was also in the mix but suffered a ball in the water at the 17th which resulted in a round of 68 and a final score of 266 to tie for 4th spot along with Canada’s Corey Conners and Cameron Young (USA).
The Tour Championship is the culminating event of the PGA Tour play-offs for the FedEx Cup with only the top 30 players on the points list qualifying each year.
Established in 1904, East Lake GC is Atlanta’s oldest golf course and the historic home of legendary golfer Bobby Jones.
Tommy Fleetwood is now ranked as number 6 in the Official World Golf Ranking which is his highest ranking of all time. Last year he claimed a Silver Medal in the Olympic Games in Paris which coincidentally was won by Scottie Scheffler.
Tommy Fleetwood you are the FedEx Cup Champion for 2025 and we are truly proud of you!
