Europe in top-form against America
Just two years after a superb Ryder Cup victory of 16½-11½ over the Americans at the Marco Simone Golf and Country Club in Italy, Europe is again in fighting-form for the next match in New York which takes place from 26 to 28 September 2025. European Team Captain, Luke Donald has created a great team to test the formidable team of Americans at the Bethpage Black Course in a few days time.
The 45th Ryder Cup has long-boasted the best players in the world in a matchplay event which takes place every other year between a team of Europe’s best against an elite list of players from America.
In September 2013, the PGA of America announced that the Black Course at Bethpage would be used for the PGA Championship of 2019 and this year’s Ryder Cup.
The nerve-racking countdown is now over and both teams are chomping at the bit ready to tackle the course in Farmingdale, New York at the end of the week.
You may be surprised to learn that Europe’s team boasts nine different nationalities from Sweden to Denmark and from Spain to Northern Ireland while England has the honour of four players.
So now I have truly whetted your appetite to watch this year’s Ryder Cup who is who in the teams this year?

The Bethpage Black Course which has a par of 70 stretched out over 7,352 yards was opened in 1936 and was designed by legendary architect A.W. Tillinghurst and park superintendent Joseph H. Burbeck. Bethpage Black also hosted the US Open of 2002 and 2009. Incidentally, Bethpage Black is welcoming the Ryder Cup for the very first time and is only one of two courses in New York to ever host the prestigeous event along with Oak Hill Country Club.
A maximum of 36 holes is played each day as a foursome or fourball with the full teams of 12 playing singles on Sunday. There are 28 matchplay points up for grabs so the true winner may not be known until well into the singles matches. So please sit back and admire the sensational golf which Europe and America will be displaying. You will be truly impressed!
