British Women’s Open in Scotland – DAY ONE
Now that doesn’t happen often in a golfer’s life … that you tee-off on the first day of a “Major” golf championship on your birthday. But that’s just what is happening to Holland’s leading lady professional Christel Boeljon today. Instead of celebrating her birthday in America, where she now plays on the L.P.G.A. circuit most of the time, or at home with the family in the lowlands of the Netherlands, she will be blowing out the 28 candles on her birthday cake in the Highlands of Scotland. At the Trump Turnberry Resort in Ayrshire, to be precise, on the opening day of the Ricoh British Women’s Open.
The horoscope for the on-form golfer from Beverwijk, who won the Dutch Open in Amsterdam last month, looks promising for this week. And it’s the week of the Lion. Astrologists say: “You won’t be able to sit still and do nothing this week, Leo. You’re bursting with ideas and inspiration.” It’s a timely prediction as imaginative play is just what is needed in Scotland. Even more so in a Major.
Happy Birthday, Christel! Enjoy yourself at the ‘Home of Golf’!
